IDENTIFYING AND FULFILLING THE NEED

The Identified Need

Based on the HBI Indoor Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) team’s interaction with many of our business partners within these markets, HBI identified a serious need to develop a standardized Contact Surface Hygiene Program to assist our business partners who have instituted contact surface disinfection programs that were either creating ancillary adverse indoor environmental issues or were extremely costly and cumbersome to operate.

HBI realized our business partners truly required a standardized Contact Surface Hygiene Program that would provide both contact surface disinfection and protection capabilities and would also prove to be very effective, safe, save serious time and capital and would be easy to operate.

Expertly Fulfilling the Need

To expertly fulfill the need, for a period of over 6 months, the HBI team of Certified Industrial Hygienists, Certified Safety Professionals, Microbiologists and Environmental Engineers researched many types of chemistry application system platforms and contact surface hygiene disinfection and protection chemistries.

HBI’s research to develop and deliver a standardized Contact Surface Disinfection and Protection program for our business partners was focused on:

  1. Identifying contact surface disinfection and protection chemistries that were effective in killing the COVID-19 virus and many other harmful microbes.

  2. Identifying chemistries that provided long term contact surface protection from viruses and bacteria to allow our business partners to safely reduce the amount of contact surface disinfection and protection application activities as recently suggested by the CDC.

  3. Identifying chemistries that would not create other ancillary adverse indoor environmental issues such as corrosion, oxidation of electronic devises and metal surfaces or a residual chemistry film residue left on contact surfaces.

  4. Identifying a chemistry application platform that would not alter the chemistries on a molecular level while applying the chemistry to all types contact surfaces.

  5. Identifying a chemistry application platform that would very quickly apply chemistry to seriously reduce the labor required to disinfect and protect contact surfaces.

  6. Identifying a chemistry application platform that would be easy to operate and would take the human error factor out of the chemistry application process.

  7. In respect to hand sanitizers, HBI research the market to identify hand sanitizers that would prove to be safer to use on human skin and would provide up to 24 hours of protection against viruses and bacteria.
